Propaganda Poster

 

    Of my 3 sketches the last one I figured had the strongest and clearest argument regarding how pineapple does not belong on pizza.

I began with a black background and added grain from the effects gallery 

I tested the spiral effect and wasn't satisfied with the results...

I tried again, this time with thicker lines and more of a gradient and thought that it resembled pizza colors in a way, I also added texture over it.

To cover the hole I added a texturized circle with a shadow behind

To add some more geometric shapes and to guide the eye along the whole piece I decided to add lighter shaded squares and rectangles for text and images. I also added a shadow beneath them as well

I downlaoded some constructivist style fonts and used them to try and get my point across, adding texture to them as well.

I then added the images and applied the screen printing effect through the effects gallery 

To further convey my message I applied an X over the pineapple to show the negative connotation. 

This is the final result!

     For my first class of Digital Media, I found it very appealing in the sense that right off the bat, the concept of giving and receiving constructive feedback would be a method used in the class to build a better outlook on individual projects. Linking the group together and referring to us as a family was a memorable comment that I felt was necessary for our little group to thrive throughout the semester. Having a night class is also a plus because I am the type of person who tends to work better at night than during the day. I am a bit introverted and love to create things, it can really be anything I just enjoy to have things that I made, even if they're terrible. I also have never been to Tampa before, so it's my first time ever being here or even on this campus, so I hope the remainder of the year is a little less confusing. Calligram

 This is my very first time using Illustrator so I am very excited! I began with my 3 sketches... Out of the 3 sketches I thought the first one was the most interesting This was the image I went off of for the sketch and calligram  Envelope distort was my go to for majority of this piece  I used that process for the facial features I even started building the face with primarily the Envelope Distort with Top image I also used gradient to show all the values in the face For the hair I tried a couple methods but ended up just sticking to Type on Path, I added more features as well continuing Envelope Distort and Gradient  Eventually it all came together, I even added some more bubbles to fill up the negative space.
